A perineoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to restore the integrity and function of the perineal body.
The perineum is the area between the vaginal opening and the anus. This area plays an important role in both structural support and sexual function.
Following childbirth, this area can become stretched, weakened, or heal in a way that no longer feels supportive or comfortable.
For some, this shows up as a feeling of looseness, decreased sensation, or difficulty with intimacy. For others, it may be persistent discomfort, scar tissue, or a sense that things simply haven’t returned to how they once felt.
These changes are common, but they are not something you have to accept as permanent.
