What’s the deal with insurance?

We are dedicated to treating you for the person you are, not for the insurance you have. For this reason, we have chosen to opt out of health insurance networks. 

Insurance plan requirements for in-network providers foster environments in which patients become numbers rather than people, and women become conditions, the treatment of which may be limited by insurance billing rules. We are not here for your insurance. We are here for you. 

In order to provide you with optimal access to care, highly personalized care plans, and providers who are committed to your individual wellness, we need to be able to spend the hours of our days focused on patient care, not on navigating insurance policies. Our interest is in giving you the time, effort, and solutions that you need, not determining these based on what your insurance plan selects for you. To provide you with an intimate wellness experience, we must put you back in the driver's seat.
Your health insurance policy is a contract between you and your health insurance company. Please note that, as with care received at any medical clinic, it is your responsibility to know whether your insurance has specific rules or regulations, such as the need for referrals and/or pre-authorizations. You should be knowledgeable of any deductibles, copayments, and/or coinsurance.

Can I seek reimbursement?

We are dedicated to assisting you with insurance reimbursement and are happy to provide the necessary forms and information to pursue reimbursement through your insurance company. Allowing our patients to interact directly with their insurance carriers regarding reimbursement for care ensures that our practice provides the highest-quality care to each patient. 

All purchases or payments made at Chinn GYN are generally HSA/FSA eligible, and medical payments may count towards your deductible.
Because healthcare benefits and coverage options have become increasingly complex, we have developed this financial policy to help you better understand your responsibilities as a patient. We will do our best to assist you in understanding your proposed treatment and answering questions about submitting your insurance claim for reimbursement.

How will I know how much my visits will cost?

We will not bill your insurance company. Instead, we will bill you directly. You will never receive a surprise bill from us. We offer transparent, value-based, and completely consistent pricing. 

Regardless of your insurance plan, our costs are always the same. Quotes can be provided upon request prior to scheduling any services. For your convenience and accessibility, we offer payment plan options.

Is the membership required?

When Chinn GYN began, we offered segmented care: you could elect to see us for gynecology only, and membership was required when you wanted to see us for primary care as well. Our mission upon opening the clinic was to provide unparalleled, comprehensive care for the women in our community. 

As time went on, we found that the decision to see us for partial care rather than comprehensive care not only hindered our ability to provide the best possible care and outcomes for our patients but also diminished the quality of our patient experience. 

For this reason, seeing us for medical care does require that we care for your whole body. We offer an exploratory medical appointment first, allowing you to meet the provider. 

We will ask you at checkout whether you intend to continue seeing us. If so, we will happily assist you in signing up for our concierge membership and welcome you to the Chinn GYN family.
For those seeking Strictly Surgical care with Dr. Chinn or Aesthetic and Wellness care, the membership is not necessary.

What about the men in my life?

We know how important the health of the loved ones in our lives is to our own. Likewise, you may have people in your life whose health and well-being impact your own. We do understand and appreciate this phenomenon, and we will happily see all of your loved ones who are biologically or identify as female.

That being said, the men in our lives often don’t pursue their own healthcare as we might hope they would. As far as true medical care goes, we are happy to provide you with informal referrals or recommendations to give your fellas! 

We do, however, reserve our provider time for tending to the women in our community, as women are horribly marginalized in ways that men are typically not in our current medical system. 

We are always happy to see your guy for our aesthetic and wellness treatments, though! If there is a way we can help him feel more confident and capable in his body, you’ve got it.

How do I schedule a follow-up appointment?

We typically schedule your follow-up, if needed, while you check out from your appointment. However, if you need to call us later to schedule or reschedule your follow-up appointment, you can reach us at (360) 824-5278

Our amazing reception team will get right back to you with options.

When will I receive my lab results?

Timing on your lab results is dependent upon the type of test. We typically expect to have labs back within two weeks. 

If you are not already scheduled for a follow up, someone from the clinic will call you to discuss those results and any additional recommendations from your providers given that information.

What should I do if my symptoms change before my next appointment?

Give us a call. Anytime you experience notable changes in your health, we want to know. 

We will triage your call and determine if a recommendation can be made over the phone or if it is appropriate to move your follow up to a sooner date for reassessment.

How can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we ask that you kindly give us 48 hours notice so we can fill your spot. To cancel or reschedule, you can call (360) 824-5278.

What should I do if my concern is urgent?

If you’re experiencing an emergency, you should call 911 immediately. If your concern is urgent, but not emergent, please call us at (360) 824-5278 if it’s during business hours. We’ll do our best to fit you in, or make a recommendation for other options.

If you have an urgent concern after hours, and you are an established patient, you can call the concierge line to reach the provider on call. She will help you determine the best course of action given your concern.

What should I do if I’m unsure which service I need?
